About

Hey, I’m Matei.

I’m a filmmaker based in Bucharest. Most of my work revolves around music, events, people and places.

I spend a lot of time filming things I genuinely enjoy being part of. Sometimes it’s a festival with thousands of people. Other times, it’s just me, my camera and a random idea.

Here’s some of the stuff I’ve been working on.

I don’t always need a big event to feel like filming.

Sometimes I’ll just go for a walk, notice something interesting and end up spending the next few hours putting together a video.

That’s probably one of my favorite things about what I do.

01 How it started

I’m 24, based in Bucharest, and I spend a pretty big part of my life behind a camera.

I got into photography back in high school, when I was doing volunteer work. I loved taking pictures of people, places, and pretty much anything happening around me.

Towards the end of high school, I started experimenting with video. And I liked it even more.

With photography, I could capture a moment. With video, I could show everything happening around it. The music, people’s reactions, the atmosphere, all those little things that make you remember a certain day.

02 Behind the camera

I’m actually a pretty introverted person. I’ve never been particularly good at expressing everything I’m thinking or feeling face-to-face.

But somehow, when I’m filming, it all comes naturally.

03 All year round

These days, I work as a videographer at KISS FM Romania, which means I get to experience some pretty cool things.

Winters usually involve mountains, snow and après-ski parties. Summers are all about festivals, music, artists and people having a good time.

And throughout the year, there’s always something happening. Concerts, DJ sets, live performances or completely different projects.

I love that no two days are the same.

04 MATCALI

I’m really into electronic music, festivals, traveling and pretty much anything that keeps me moving.

But I don’t always need a big event to feel like filming.

Sometimes I’ll just go for a walk in a park and end up coming home with enough footage to put together a little cinematic video.

That’s kind of how my brain works.

MATCALI CREATIVE is where I bring all of this together.

My work, my experiments, the places I go and the things I get to experience.

And probably the easiest way to get to know me.

Services

What I do.

I work on all kinds of video projects, but these are the things you’ll usually find me filming.

    Music & festivals

    Festivals, concerts, DJ sets, live performances and pretty much anything involving good music.

    I love being part of these events, and filming them is even better.

    Festival aftermovies, DJ set recordings, artist content and live performances.

  2. 02

    Events

    From smaller gatherings to large-scale events, I capture what’s happening without making everything feel staged.

    The people, the atmosphere and all those moments that usually happen when nobody’s paying attention.

    Event videography, aftermovies and highlight videos.

  3. 03

    Brands & commercial

    I also work with brands on video content for campaigns, promotions and social media.

    Whether it’s a specific idea or something we’re figuring out together, I like finding a visual approach that actually fits the project.

    Brand videos, promotional content and digital campaigns.

  4. 04

    Social media content

    A lot of what I create is made for social media.

    Short videos, vertical formats, Reels, TikToks and content that feels natural on the platform it’s made for.

Working together

I usually work independently, but depending on the project, I can also collaborate with other creatives and production teams.

Some projects need one person and a camera. Others need a few more people behind the scenes.

I’m comfortable with both.
